San Juan Night Sky Photograph

Bears Ears National Monument hosts the darkest skies in the western hemisphere which provides opportunity for incredible night sky photography.  The monolithic towers of Valley of the Gods are the perfect subject for learning how to take night sky photos.  Departure times vary on the time of year and you will want to check the phases of the moon to plan for the best night sky photos.  You’ll want to avoid the full moon, but some light from the moon can make great shots.

Meet at Wild Expeditions in Bluff, Utah 15 minutes before your scheduled departure time.  We’ll load up the vans and drive to Valley of the Gods approximately a 20 minute drive.  We’ll spend about 2 hours at various sites photographing the towers or just enjoying the night sky.   We will help you get the best photograph possible and enjoy the serenity of the desert.  We run this trip year round so check the weather and dress accordingly.  You’ll need a DSLR camera and a tripod for the best results.  Anyone is welcome to join whether you plan to photograph or prefer to just lay back and enjoy the night sky.  We will arrive back in Bluff approximately 4 hours after the start of the tour.
