Jonathan Till has been studying and working in archaeological field in this neighborhood since the mid-eighties. We are very grateful that we get to share what we’ve heard Sally Cole call a “geography of home” with him. While we think his achievement in publication and other contributions to the field is stunning and nowhere near complete in terms of what he’ll do here, it is the hundreds of footsteps that he has trekked in this landscape that we can’t wait to follow behind and listen for a few days. It sort of feels like getting an after hours tour of the museum with a loving keeper if you ask us. Call today to come along!

Overview

Focusing on the prehistoric population of this area immediate to Bluff and the river corridor, this is certainly an opportunity not to miss if you are interested in exploring inhabitation patterns and what we know about them.

With a bit of an unorthodox schedule, our tour will include sites near Bluff and upstream of Sand Island, which in Jonathan’s words, “are critical to defining inhabitation and movement in the area.” We’ll have the chance to see panels at Sand Island that continue to create quite a stir in archeological circles and then head downstream where we’ll round out the story.
