 | In a tradition that started when what would become Wild Rivers Expeditions was really still just a glimmer in Kenny Ross' eye, we are winding our way through a new guide library, stacks of old photos, and buckets full of river cobbles. We're in pursuit of understanding the stories that help us understand and share this river that we love with passengers as a crew this year. With new and returning staff gathering in greater numbers as we get going for the season, and the fortune of chances to visit or take a field trip with countless people who have been part of the Wild Rivers and San Juan River communities for decades and generations, I am struck by the almost daily by the richness and diversity of the tradition of this company and its relationship with this river. May at Wild Rivers is truly a frenzy that matches the one that occurs in the natural world around us this time of year in most every respect. We are grateful to find that this year is no exception. We'll keep learning and pursuing all of the projects that help us find those threads of story that we'll get to share with you. We'll try to post about our adventures and findings on our still fairly young blog, Facebook and Twitter pages. And I'll hope that any of you who are able will come to join us for a trip and spend some time with an absolutely stellar crew who are working very hard to offer the best San Juan River trips that we can imagine.

| Really Special. Really. |
| While we don't really run trips that aren't customized, we do have a fantastic line-up of trips focused on specialties in interpretation this season, and we're hoping that by the next time you read a newsletter we'll have a few more to add for the fall. We're watching all sorts of birds come through and show off with Spring and looking forward to getting to learn about them with Bryan Brown on our 7 day Birding Down the San Juan trip launching June 5th. We've been checking in often with some of the Great Old Broads as we participate in Senator Bennett's San Juan County Lands Bill process. In addition to our appreciation of all that their organization does to encourage protection and monitor the health of our regional and local landscapes, we are always honored (and downright giddy to be honest) to run our annual benefit trip and spend a few days on the river with them. And as if that is not enough, we're already anticipating exploring the region's geology with Gene Stevenson on our "By Sand and Sea" trip as well as learning to master the mystery buttons on our digital cameras and take great photos with Stewart Aitchison this fall. Some of us are admitted learning junkies and can't help but get excited about such remarkable opportunities to learn something new. If you like that kind of thing, there is plenty of space for you to join us for any of them!

| KUDOS |
We're taking every chance we get to applaud Senator Bob Bennett and the San Juan County Commission for embarking on a process to develop a San Juan County Lands Bill. We're just flat out thrilled to have public discussions about potential designations to protect this landscape that our beloved San Juan River runs through. Watch our blog and social media pages for updates on the process and avenues to submit your own input. Read more
Also, our thanks to the BLM Monticello Field Office for hosting what we hope will be the First Annual San Juan River Commercial Outfitters meeting! |

In honor of Charlie, who graced Wild Rivers and Bluff with her beautiful smile among countless other qualities and who we'll miss dearly.
